Something Good

So after going home sick today after lunch with a pounding headache and feeling like I was on the verge of throwing up all morning, this seems very appropriate:

Something good at school:
I feel like my kiddos are finally becoming more independent at centers  - both reading and math. That's such a relief because there is nothing that annoys me more than being swarmed with children asking questions, asking me if they are doing x, x, and x right, telling me that they are done, asking for drinks, etc. So I'm glad that they are becoming more independent. Plus that means that maybe my hope of pulling small groups in a week is actually feasible...We shall see...

Something good at home:
Since Evan and I are both super busy now, we have decided to go on weekly dates. So starting last week, either Friday night or Saturday night is our date night. I'm really excited about it and it will be nice to spend some quality time with him instead of trying to talk to him in the early mornings when he is still sleepy or being bothered by him at night when I am sleepy.

Your turn! Go link up with Jennifer at Rowdy in First Grade!

  1. Ahh! I know what you mean about students saying they are done, or surrounding you with 5,000 questions. Yikes! Glad to hear it is getting better!

    1. So annoying! And I always feel super mean telling them that I'm not talking to kids right now. Oh well, I guess it's better than having them interrupt small group time!

  2. I found your blog through the linky! Do you have a specific system that they use for if they have a question and want to come to you? I get SO tired of all the questions! Mine is starting to get better. I have 2 "Ask Me" helpers who can answer any questions other students have. Those are the only people that may come up to me. HOWEVER...I still have a few stragglers who don't understand. Drives me nuts! haha Just wanted to see what you did!

BTW - You might already have one, but I am hosting a giveaway on my site. You could win a free personal laminator! They are incredible! Come check it out if you get the chance!!

  3. Most of my kids come up to me with things that they can solve themselves so I usually just tell them that they know what to do or that they can fix it themselves. I also have a sign for bathroom so I'm not constantly bombarded with kiddos asking to go to the bathroom. And I will def have to check out your giveaway. I WISH I had my own laminator!!

  4. I have to agree with you and the comments made so far about how challenging it is to be patient when being bombarded with questions. Especially those that they could answer themselves. It's so hard to get them feeling like they can take care of some things on their own.
Since Heather mentioned her giveaway, I'll mention mine too in case you're interested.
I'm glad to have found your blog thru the linky party. I'm your newest follower.

  7. What a fun linky! I may have to do this one later this week. I found my "I am not lost" nose picking fingers at Meijers. Do you have any of those? They were in the Halloween section. I think they should put them by the books!! Maybe I should have a give away and give some away!! Did you know you are a noreply blogger?

And I'm not sure about Meijers...but probably Target or Walmart or Dollar Tree would have them? Maybe...?
